This document shows the procedure that can be used by field technicians to calibrate transducers to be used with IHS equipment. These calibration values are then applied by the software automatically when performing tests using these transducers for stimulation.
SmartEP, SmartEP-ASSR, SmartEP-CAM, Intelligent VRA, and Smart Audiometer have the ability to use custom created stimuli, such as speech. Before use, the stimuli must be converted from WAV format to the IHS proprietary stimulus file format. This Smart Note defines the requirements for the WAV files, the steps to convert the stimuli, calibrating the files before use, and some additional usage tips for individual programs.
The HL or Hearing Level scale can be used to easily compare the hearing level differences between test subjects in the same population category. In human populations, this corrected scale is usually determined by the acquisition of behavioral thresholds. However, in cases where the population being tested cannot interactively provide threshold information, it may be necessary to find the normal expected ABR hearing threshold using electrophysiological responses.
